The australian mining company Rio Tinto has signed up a deal with the Chinese metal group Chinalco to develop a massive iron ore mine in Africa. The Chinese metal group will invest 1.3 billion dollars or 47% of the Simandou project in Africa.
The two companies did recently have some problems while four employees of Rio Tinto hace been caught and accused for commercial spying. That is whythe Chinese wil not be fully open to the diplomats. The australian embassyin Beijing has confirmed that alle the parts of the trail related secrets will be kept behind closed doors. Although they say this incident will not harm their cooperation in the Simandou project. They said: "the two matters are fully seperated".
It is also a great deal for Guinea because the railway infrastructure wil go through their country witch creates a lot of jobs, what is very good for the gouvernement while there are elections in June.
I hope that they will be able to work together without being suspicious who could possibly leak some information. Because this couok mean severe damage to both companies. But this will certainly be not easy keeping their history in mind. When it might work to cooperate it could mean big opportunities vor both companies.
